Heard you for the first time last night, "Old Black Dog" on Friday Night Beer and Blues at DustMyBroom.com Absolutely great music. We wondered who that could possibly be, where is this "Mike Clarke"? Can't be Chicago - we would have heard. Atlanta, maybe? Must be really well known down there. Turns out it's Calgary. Great blues we never heard before. It's like Penny Lang says in "Penny's Blues", there are these talented people doing so well, and somehow it is hard to get the message out. Well, everybody around us is going to hear Old Black Dog, and really, really loud. - Bob & Ulli, Quebec

Just purchased "Clarkology" this weekend while at Morgans. After listening to it several times, and enjoying it more each time, I can honestly say it is one of the best CD's I own. It's great.

Mike's the man - a grrrrrreat player and a benevolent musician ... he's a true statesman for music, live or recorded, and he gives it all every time he plays. I know he inspires the musicians who hear him to do the same. Calgary is damn lucky to have him. He gave me my first stage time in Calgary, and didn't give up on me through some rough spots. Keep it going Mike, Greg and Thom!

What a great welcome you give on your site, cool stuff. When Albert Collins toured Australia in the 80's. our band CHAIN supported his band The Icebreakers around Australian Cities and towns. What a great bunch of guys he had in his band, Soko Richardson on drums and he had an Alto Player who played Alto and Tenor both at the same time, ah la' Roland Kirk. I said to him how did you learn to do that and he said he wrote the Alto part in one colour and the tenor part in a different color and read them both at once. Like if you scored a 2 part harmony. He use to bring the house down when he played them. He said that his Mum was 85 years old and drove a Taxi in New York City or wherever he came from. Albert Collins was a beautiful person, man. He was late getting on stage one night because he was deep in the middle of a rave with myself and the Bass Player,"Big Goose". We said 'Albert, you have to go on now and he said " They'll wait ". Fair dinkum stuff.

Thanks for your email, I have heard a lot about you on the net. I like your Home Page where you only get to see the Sax, reminds me of one of my Albums where we just used the Instruments, instead of a mug shot of the band. That was 'Toward the Blues" by CHAIN, Australian Blues, Jazz, Rock Band. That Album was released in 1971 and is the only Album to be in stock continually in Record Stores till now, without ever being deleted. Must have been a good one as It sells steadily everywhere. It went Gold in 1973 and then double Gold in 1997. We still play songs from it because the people won't let us off the stage until we have.
The Tenor and Alto Saxophones are beautiful Instruments, always been my favorite lead instrument, great to play drums with.
My mp3 site here in Australia is a beauty mate, cobber as the Americans call Australians.

I am dying to see who is on the end of that sax there. Barry ( lil goose ) Harvey, Australia.
